Filtering MFA Websites

Monday, October 09, 2006

Howdy,

MFA websites means "Made for Adsense", which means websites made mainly just to earn money from Adsense. Normally, their tactic will be making it looks like a search engine website. When you search a term on that website, it will bring you to a new page, and all you see will be Adsense's advertisement, and not the search result.

Most people will thought that the advertisement is their search result, and will click on it to check it out. By then, the MFA website owner earn some bucks from it. To maximize their earnings using MFA sites, they sign-up for Adwords, and start a campaign to advertise their MFA websites. Since they are just earning thru Adsense, they won't be paying high price for the click.

Therefore, filtering MFA websites from appearing on your website will increase your earnings per click. However, some users claim that their earnings did drop after they've filter the MFA sites. In this case, you should do an experiment to test it out. Choose which way earn you the most.

After observing the ads appearing on my website for almost 2 weeks, I have came out a MFA list. It is up to you to filter it or not, but I would say that it worth a try.

To filter them, login to your Adsense account, then go to AdSense Setup -> Competitive Ad Filter. Add the list of MFA websites and click on the "Save changes" button. Wait for a few days and observe your earnings. If it do increase, continue filtering them. If it is worse, do not filter them anymore.
